The International Labour Organization’s Global Business Network on Forced Labour (GBNFL) invites you to its 2024 Annual Meeting, to be held online on December 5th, from 14:00 to 15:30 CET.
Interpretation will be available in French and Spanish.
Join us for an insightful panel discussion featuring representatives from employers’ organizations in Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan and Uganda. They will share recent country-level activities undertaken to combat forced labour, highlight the primary challenges faced, explain the role of employers’ organizations in supporting small and medium enterprises in these efforts, and discuss the role of the GBNFL in supporting their work. Additionally, the Annual Meeting will provide a preview of the GBNFL – IOE Handbook for Employers and Businesses on Combatting Forced Labour and highlight ongoing actions to combat human trafficking and forced labour in United Nations and ILO supply chains.

JASON PEGAT-TOQUET
Advisor – International Organization of Employers (IOE)
Leads the IOE’s international engagement on responsible business conduct and human rights. He represents employers’ global interests within the UN system, particularly at the ILO on issues linked to supply chains, Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, Better Work and the ILO MNE Declaration. He engages in international negotiations such as the UN binding treaty on Business and Human Rights, the ILO International Labour Conference or Alliance 8.7. Jason is also responsible for the IOE Global Business Network on Industrial Relations and supports the IOE’s network of partner companies.
JULIA GIN
Procurement Officer – International Labour Organization
Leads the ILO’s efforts in sustainable procurement, with a particular focus on the of promotion fundamental principles and rights at work in ILO supply chains, disability inclusive procurement, gender responsive procurement, the inclusion of macro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and the operationalization of human rights due diligence. Julia has represented the ILO in the interagency UN Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labour in Supply Chains since its founding in 2019 and has served as its Co-chair since 2022.
DR. LINDA LUMAYAG
Head of Big Data, Research, and Information – Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF)
Dr. Linda Lumayag also leads international projects and conferences in partnership with MEF affiliates. Prior to joining MEF, she spent over two decades as an academic scholar specializing in migration studies and actively advocating for the rights of undocumented individuals, transnational domestic workers, and binational families.
EDUARDO OCAMPO BAUTISTA
President of the Labour, Social Security and Human Resources Commission – Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States (CONCAMIN)
A lawyer and member of the Mexican Bar Association and the National Association of Corporate Lawyers, he also serves as an expert member of the Labour Commission of the Business Coordinating Council. Additionally, he was a representative and Technical Advisor for the Mexican employers at the International Labour Conference in 2021 and 2022.
SYED NAZAR ALI
Secretary General – Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP)
Syed brings over 40 years of experience in technical vocational education, skills development, employment, industrial relations, and labor management. His career spans both the public and private sectors, where he has held government positions and managed projects for organizations such as the World Bank, GIZ, and the UN. He has played a key role in advancing TVET initiatives in Pakistan, including the creation of the country’s first-ever TVET Policy and the development and implementation of the National Vocational Qualification Framework and Competency-Based Training & Assessment.
DOUGLAS OPIO (MODERATOR)
Chief Executive Officer – Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE)
Has an extensive career in employment and labour market matters. He is a trusted advocate for the interests of employers, navigating complex labour regulations, promoting fair labour practices, and fostering conducive business environments. Through his active engagement with the International Organization of Employers and the GBNFL, he seeks to work with stakeholders to help eradicate forced labour.
